How it works
From the controls on the pad to the reports your teams use.
RYDM is software. It connects to the equipment a fueling facility already has, so a yard can start without replacing working hardware.
How data moves
- 01
At the pad
The PLCs, meters, nozzles, tank gauges, leak detection and AEI readers already installed at the fueling facility.
- 02
At the yard
A small edge computer at each yard reads that equipment. Allen-Bradley PLCs are read over Modbus.
- 03
In RYDM
Readings become fuelings, deliveries, inventories and alarms, tied to locomotives and facilities.
- 04
To your people and systems
Reports and email alerts for your teams, and postings to the railroad’s business systems and partners.
What a yard needs
Start from the survey, not a purchase order for new hardware.
Every fueling facility is different. CWI surveys the pad first: the controllers, meters, nozzles, tank gauges and AEI readers that are there, and how they are wired. RYDM is set up to read what exists, and the survey names anything that has to be added.
For each railroad
Set up per railroad, from access to integration.
Each railroad’s people see their own railroad’s facilities and data. Reports, alert recipients and the postings to business systems and partners are set up for each railroad.
RYDM is in service at locomotive fueling facilities on the Amtrak, CSX, Norfolk Southern and Belt Railway of Chicago networks.

Tell us about your fueling facilities. We will follow up and, where it helps, arrange a walkthrough of your yard with CWI.
